How Newsei turns 20 sources into one living story — and what we do not claim.
Discovery & clustering
Newsei monitors an approved set of primary, wire, and established sources. Reporting about the same event is grouped into a single Newsei Story with one intelligence page. We do not create separate articles for every publisher covering the same event.
Source Confidence
Our confidence indicator reflects the number of independent reliable sources, presence of primary sources, agreement between sources, recency, official confirmation, and the presence of conflicting reports. Confidence is not a claim of absolute truth — it is a transparent summary of the evidence available.
Confirmed, Reported, Disputed
Individual claims are labelled: CONFIRMED when supported by primary or multiple independent reliable sources; REPORTED when a source states it but it is not independently corroborated; DISPUTED when reliable sources conflict; UNCLEAR when evidence is thin. Allegations are never presented as facts.
Corrections
When information changes, we update the story and preserve meaningful history. Stories that previously contained incorrect information are labelled CORRECTED with a note about what changed. Substantial factual errors are never silently rewritten.
Copyright
Newsei summarizes and synthesizes. We do not republish complete articles or substantial source text. Every source is linked so readers can go to the original reporting.
Political labels
Newsei does not automatically assign political labels to publishers. Compare-coverage tables surface differences in emphasis and included information; readers draw their own conclusions.
