How Newsei turns many outlets' reporting into one story page — and what we do not claim.
Discovery & clustering
Newsei reads an approved list of wire, public-broadcaster and established outlets (see source profiles). Reporting about the same event is grouped into one story page. Grouping is automatic and based on shared wording and timing, so it can miss: when two pages look like the same event, the story page lists them under "Possibly the same event" rather than merging them or counting their sources as agreeing.
Update schedule and freshness
Newsei is updated manually, not continuously. Every story shows when it was first reported and when it was last updated, and each source shows its original publication time. Stories not updated in 48 hours are labelled ARCHIVED instead of BREAKING or DEVELOPING, and feeds say plainly when nothing is recent. Newsei never shows sample or placeholder stories as current news.
Reporting vs. inference
Reporting is what the linked outlets published: events, quotes, figures. Inference is Newsei's synthesis: the summary, "Newsei analysis" and "Why it matters" sections, which are drafted with AI assistance from the sources on the page and labelled as such. Inference never introduces facts that are not in the linked reporting.
Corroboration and confidence
A claim is CONFIRMED when two or more independent outlets report it, or a primary source (an official statement or document) supports it. REPORTED means one outlet says it and it is not yet corroborated. DISPUTED means reliable outlets conflict. UNCLEAR means evidence is thin. Outlets repeating the same wire story count as one source, not several. The confidence label summarises the number of independent sources and how far they agree; it is not a claim of absolute truth. Allegations are never presented as facts.
Source profiles and bias labels
The source list shows each outlet's type (wire service, public broadcaster, newspaper, specialist) and section. Newsei does not assign left/right scores; such scores are contested and often reflect the rater. Instead, story pages show each outlet's headline side by side so readers can see differences in emphasis themselves.
Corrections
When information changes, the story is updated and its "last updated" time changes. Stories that contained an error are labelled CORRECTED with a note on what changed; substantial errors are never silently rewritten. Report an error to info@newsei.com. See the editorial policy.
Search and news inclusion
Recent analysed stories are listed in a news sitemap for 48 hours and remain in the regular sitemap afterwards. Listing a page does not guarantee that any search engine or news product will include it.

Newsei summarises and links. We do not republish complete articles or substantial source text. Every source is linked so readers can go to the original reporting.
